Plant Operator – Trainee
Essential Requirements/Functions
Entry Level position exposed to both Maintenance and Operations. Under the Repairman’s direction, assist with maintenance and other duties as assigned. Recognize operating deviations and take appropriate corrective action. Perform other duties as assigned. High school diploma or GED, one (1) year of general experience in the oil/gas industry or similar role, good mechanical aptitude, effective written & verbal communication, ability to read and comprehend repair manuals and parts books, ability to respond to emergency call-outs within an hour.
Special Characteristics/Job Requirements
Working overtime, holidays and weekends required. Dynamic, fast-paced, demanding environment. Work outside in all types of inclement weather, working extended hours as required in emergencies, on projects, etc. Must have good driving record, may require walking and standing up to 8 hours a day in a field environment. Requires physical capabilities of: standing, walking, bending, stretching, reaching over shoulder height, frequent lifting of parts weighing up to 80lbs. Pipeline work is subject to hazardous conditions including escaping gas, adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures and high-pressure gas lines. Employees are required to live within a reasonable distance of their reporting location. Incumbents are required to be reasonably available to respond to emergency and other operational needs whenever they occur. May require some travel for meetings and/or training. Incumbent will be required to learn duties associated with one or more specific areas of the operation, depending on the operational need and the employee’s demonstrated abilities.
Preferred Skills
Two (2) or more years of general experience in the oil/gas industry in a utility support role or similar, experience working on same/similar equipment and duties (gas plant/processing and/or pipeline field operations environment), proficient computer and Microsoft office skills.
